Why Notre Dame is special ...
Someone asked me not to long ago why Notre Dame was so special and why we cared enough to spend the money we do to see games and the pageantry that we have around the house for game day. I thought of this story from last season. It was difficult to explain the story but it is self evident when you watch the video clip what makes Notre Dame what it is. Charlie Weiss didn't want this story in the open. It only broke a week after the meeting at the request of the boys mother. How many other countless acts of selflessness like this one have gone unnoticed? No one will truly know.
It's going to be a tough season this year and the fair weather fans are already jumping ship. However, when football is said and done the actions reported in this story are what make Notre Dame special.
I pray my children will understand one day that it is better to give back to the world than to take from it. My father has always said that what goes around comes around. In our business, in our personal lives, and just all around. in general. Marla and I are blessed with two healthy children, and praise God, a third healthy one on the way. What a reminder this story is as to how blessed we are and why Notre Dame is special.
