We lost a great friend .... The world lost a great Man

Our family lost a great friend on Tuesday afternoon. Chips was killed in a cycling accident on the Clark Memorial bridge. Marla and I were talking about the great time we had at dinner in New Smyrna when Chips and Barb were able to join my parents and us for dinner and great conversation at the New Smyrna steakhouse. I'll have to post the pictures Chips sent to us of that night. Chips was there for my family in so many ways. He spent a countless number of hours with my grandfather as he was battling his cancer. He led the rosary at Marla's grandmother's funeral visitation. He and Barb have been great friends to our family and my parents with many memories of times spent at the Mount. He will be missed and there will be no replacing him in our lives or in the parrish community at St. Anthony's. Our prayers go to out to Barb and the boys. They may never see this blog and I know that they will never truly know the amount of people he touched as a friend and a confidant. Keep this great family in your prayers as they will need them. I will keep them in mine, as Chips prayed for my family everyday! Welcome Home my friend! Give my Grandfather a hug for me as I am certain he was there waiting for you along with countless others that you had helped! Requiescat in Pace CRONEN, GEORGE OWEN JR. "CHIPS," 57, returned home Tuesday, July 3, 2007. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ann Craven Cronen; and his sister, Candace Marie Cronen. Chips is survived by his faithful, faith-filled best friend and wife of 39 years, Barbara Tonini Cronen; his father, George Owen Cronen Sr.; sons, George Owen III, Geoffrey Alan, Joseph Francis Anthony Michael Patrick, Jesse Vincent Paul Sebastian and Giles Christopher; daughters-in-law, Leslie Metcalf Cronen, Angi Beckmann Cronen, Lauren Noel Cronen, Natalie Beasley Cronen and Ashley Mannel Cronen; and grandchildren, Jacqueline Marie, Grace Angela, George Owen IV, Lilly Blake, and Caroline Reese. He is also survived by his older sister, Mary Ann and her husband, Bob Schubert, sister, Carol Ray; his younger sister, Vikki, and her husband, Dr. Pat Carroll; in-laws, Anne Milliman (Jim), Edward Tonini (Carol), Doris Thomas (Jim), Mary Wilding (Ernie), Frank Tonini, Rick Tonini (Denise), John Tonini (Rita), William Tonini (Susie), Joan Tonini and Joseph Tonini (Kathy); his many nieces and nephews, and countless people he was blessed and grateful to call "friend." A celebration of Chips' life will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 316 N. Sherwood Ave., Clarksville, IN, at 10 a.m. Saturday with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 - 9 Friday at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Chips requests that you send a note to Barbara or any of his family with whom you are acquainted or donations may be made to the Lauren Blake Tonini Scholarship Fund at Sacred Heart Academy or to the Kidney Disease Program at University of Louisville School of Medicine. Maddie loves breakfast. Especially, white powdered doughnuts!

Thomas The Train

Yesterday we spent the afternoon in New Haven KY with Victor and Madeline so that they could see Thomas the train. It was a great afternoon and Victor was able to see one of his favorite story characters. Mamo Christy was able to go with us as well. Thanks for going Mom, I know Victor and Madeline were excited you were there!
